Webinar Recording and accompanying PPT slides.
Illuminating the path for EPs
Build confidence, clarity and practical know-how for EP practice with guidance from an educational psychologist (Maxine Caine of Max Purpose Psychology) and a sector-specialist commercial solicitor (Clare Veal of Aubergine Legal).
This recording was our fourth session of PsychScope: An EP–Legal Roadmap, a new space designed to support Educational Psychologists navigating the practical, ethical and legal realities of practice.
We take a deep dive into Clinical Continuity Plans and post-practice obligations, exploring what happens to your clients, records and professional responsibilities if you become seriously ill, incapacitated, retire or die. This session is designed to help you put practical arrangements in place so that your clients are protected, your professional obligations are met and the right people know what to do if you are unexpectedly unable to continue practising.
In this practical, plain-English session we:
- look at your post-practice obligations (if you retire / become incapacitated /die)
- discuss data retention requirements
- explain what a Clinical Continuity Plan is and why it's important for independent EP practice
- explore your ethical and professional responsibilities to clients if you are unexpectedly unable to continue working
- walk you through the key information and practical arrangements to include within your Clinical Continuity Plan
- discuss the role of a Clinical Agent, including choosing the right person and making sure they have the information they need
- consider how ongoing client work, appointments and professional relationships can be safely and appropriately managed
- explore data protection considerations, including access to client records, secure information sharing and confidentiality
- look at how your Clinical Continuity Plan works alongside other legal arrangements, including your Will and Lasting Power of Attorney
- discuss practical steps for securely storing, reviewing and updating your arrangements so your plan remains effective
- At the end we are joined by Anna Bunch of Psych-VA who talks through the services her business offers EPs - in terms of putting a clinical continuoty plan in place and managing client data
Recording Duration: 49 minutes and 35 seconds, and comes with PPT slides.
